The Profile below is a figment of my imagination. The profile is completely false except for some small details hidden within. My name is actually Libby, my middle name, that is. I do not actually live in Fair Lawn, but I spend so much time there I feel as if I am a resident of the lovely town. While I am not a professional fencer, I have been taking classes for about a year now, and I really do love fencing.
My name is Libby, and I live in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. However, Fair Lawn has not been my only home; I have moved two other times in my life. I was born in Sydney, Australia. When I was eleven months old, my parents decided to move to the “land of opportunity,” America, and settled in the Lower East Side in Manhattan. After living there for three years and inhaling all the toxic fumes in the city, we decided, well, my parents decided, since I was only four at the time, to move to a more rural place. We relocated to Europe for six years and lived in French Riviera. The country is absolutely beautiful; it is definitely the best place I’ve lived. The French are well known for their skill in fencing, and when I was six years old a fencing group came to my school. I quickly became enchanted with the way the fencers moved; the swoosh of the blade, the steady hand motions and the quick yet graceful footwork were mesmerizing. When I was seven, I was finally able to enroll in a fencing program, and I’ve been studying the art of fencing ever since.
After I learned French, one of the three romance languages, and the country became extremely anti-Semitic, my family and I moved back to the States, to Fair Lawn, where we have been living ever since. In addition to fencing, I enjoy spending time with my friends and family. I also take music lessons daily and have even performed in France. In France my school had a mandatory music class in which I was introduced to the beauty of rhythm. Music touches my heart and soul, and I love expressing myself through my voice. I hope that someday I will be good enough to be on Broadway or to perform in an opera. I love going into New York City, the best city in the US and possibly the world, well, after Yerushalayim.
I am not sure if it is due to all the moving I have done, but I love to travel. I love learning about other cultures and civilizations, particularly from their artistic masterpieces. Sometimes I even try to sketch some of the works that intrigue me, but I fear I don’t do them justice. My love of art comes from my appreciation of the beauty of life as well as the fun of it. I feel that life is too short not to enjoy, especially with friends and family. As Clarence says in the beautiful classic movie It’s a Wonderful Life, “No man is a failure if he has friends.”
